Behind the Scenes with Nimble

Here at Nimble Babies, we’re always keen to share our story with as many families as possible, so this week we thought we’d let you in on some behind the scenes action! We’re proud that all our products are made here in the UK, so we thought we’d introduce you to the team behind our factory, North West Filling. Grab a cuppa, sit back, and let’s delve a little deeper into our mission to create better cleaning products for you, your child, and the world they’ll grow up in.

Meet Amy and Steve

Thanks to their dad, Neil, Amy and Steve have grown up with more than a passing knowledge of the manufacturing industry. Neil owns Cheshire Fillers, a contract filler operating mainly in the cosmetics, toiletries and personal care industries. Once upon a time, Cheshire Fillers produced Nimble products too.

Now fully grown, Amy and Steve have since branched out from under their father’s wing, but they’ve remained true to their roots. Amy and Steve utilised the experience they gained working for Neil and the rest, as they say, is history.

North West Filling

North West Filling was set up in May 2020, smack bang in the middle of a global pandemic, and since its very first day, it’s been an honest family business. With only three full-time members, including Amy and Steve’s nephew, North West Filling often calls on other family members to step in when necessary and, of course, dad is still there to lend a helping hand along the way! Amy and Steve don’t do things by halves.

While the pair admit that working with family can be challenging (and thanks to lockdown I think we can all relate to this in some way, can’t we?) but both are quick to point out how rewarding it is too. To their credit, both Amy and Steve have managed to successfully get past the whole ‘Oh no, not you again!’ moments at family functions and today, the business is thriving. Yay!

Nimble Babies and North West Filling

Amy and Steve currently fill a range of cleaning products and perfumes and hope to move into creams soon. With clients as wide-ranging as their tasks, every day is different for the brother and sister team- from in-house development to sourcing packaging to working on formulas and filling. Working with small businesses is, they assure us, hugely rewarding, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that! 

Our eco policies

Nimble was born through a desire to create safe, baby-friendly cleaning products that work without compromising the planet. Our eco policies are essential to us, so it makes sense that our manufacturing process should stand up to the same ethical standards as ours.

North West Fillings are an excellent fit for us, not only because they enable us to continue manufacturing in the UK, but because they too strive to improve their practise continuously and to find more environmentally friendly ways of operating their business. They’re hot on reducing packaging and cutting back on plastic usage, and they prefer to work with small brands that fit in with these criteria. We’re a match made in heaven, you could say!
