Bottles can be pretty fiddly to clean, especially the yucky film of grease customarily left behind by milk residue (fats and proteins) that leave bottles cloudy and smelly. Our five easy steps will make cleaning your baby’s bottle a breeze while effectively removing cloudiness and odour.
Step 1:
Give the bottle a rinse with water to eliminate any leftover milk. We recommend cleaning the bottle as soon as possble; if you can’t wash it right away, rinsing the bottle will make it easier later on.
Step 2 (optional):
If you don’t have time to clean the bottles right away, leave them soaking in a bowl of warm soapy water or fill each bottle with warm water and bottle cleaner. The soaking action helps dislodge those sticky milk fat and proteins from the plastic, preventing hard-to-clean dreaded build up.
Step 3:
Brush the bottle and teats. This step that we cannot get away with forgetting. It’s a necessary evil, like when we clean our teeth, we always have to brush, rather than just using a mouthwash!
Nimble makes this step easier through our plant-based cleaning ingredients in our Milk Buster Bottle Cleaner that were chosen to break down the milk fats and proteins, allowing you to effectively clean your little one’s bottles in just one wash. Pair with our Magic Wand brush to make it quick and easy to clean the hard to reach places, like the teat.
Step 4:
Once you’re done with brushing, make sure you rinse the bottles and teats, so there is no leftover milk and foam in the bottle.
Top tip: when using Nimble’s Milk Buster, you will need fewer rinses to remove the foam, making this process easier!
Step 5:
Lastly, sterilise the bottles and teats. This step is highly recommended because babies under 12 months only have 15-17% of an adult’s antibodies. Sterilising will only kill bacteria, not remove the bacteria's food source (milk fat and proteins), which is why it is so important to clean your bottles before sterilising.
Ta-dah! You should now be left with clean, sterilised bottles free of odour and cloudiness. Learn more about our best-selling baby bottle cleaner Milk Buster here!
