The temperature has dropped and the warm jumpers have officially moved to the front of the wardrobe. Wool and cashmere may be your cold-weather essentials, but like all delicates, they require a little more TLC when it comes to laundry time.
You might assume that gorgeous soft cashmere is for special occasions only, after all, it’s a pain to wash - isn’t it? Well, not if you do it right.
Hand washing is always a safe choice, but you can put your cashmere in the washing machine. Yes, really. You just need to take a few extra precautions:
- Always wash on a cold, delicate cycle. Warm or hot washes can shrink your favourite jumper to the extent that it might end up in your five-year-old’s wardrobe instead of yours.
- Use a suitable detergent. This could be a specialist detergent for delicates, or you could use the nimble cares laundry detergent - formulated with premium, plant-based ingredients for a perfect, gentle clean. One detergent for everything, from baby clothes to silk, cashmere and everything in between.
- Never tumble dry and don’t wring or stretch it when it comes out of the machine. Roll or press in a clean towel to remove excess water, then hang to dry. Beautiful, clean cashmere and a house that smells like fresh laundry - what’s not to love?
