Happy New Year, and welcome to 2021! We hope you had a fantastic Christmas; whoever you were able to spend it with and wherever you were, we hope you found some time to relax and enjoy a festive break.
Now that January is in full swing and the decorations are stowed away for next time, we thought we’d take a moment to share some amazing news from the Nimble Babies HQ. We’re delighted to announce that we are now registered with the Vegan Society!
And so, in light of this, we’d like to encourage you and your family to take on the Veganuary challenge (even if it is just one or two simple swaps) this year. Are you up to it?
Read on to find out more and how Nimble can help you take Veganuary beyond the kitchen in 2021.
What is Veganuary?
Veganuary launched in 2014 as a 31-day vegan challenge with a straightforward aim: to inspire and support more people to try a vegan lifestyle; to create a global mass movement to end animal farming, protect the planet and improve human health.
The Veganuary website has lots of tips to help you get started and some utterly delicious recipes to try. It’s not all boring boiled veg and nut roasts, you know!
Beyond the kitchen
So, where to begin? The best place is no doubt in the kitchen, but there are so many more ways to adopt a vegan lifestyle beyond what you decide to put on your plate this evening. It’s not just what you eat; it’s the clothes you wear, the cosmetics and toiletries you use and even the products you clean with (did you know that some cleaning solutions from big brands actually contain animal fats?).
It sounds daunting, but there are ways to make the transition easier.
Creating a vegan home
So you’ve done your grocery shop, you’ve got a meal plan, and you’re enjoying some delicious new meals. What next? Our top three tips are:- Take small steps. As you transition over to animal-free products, don’t just throw away anything that isn’t vegan. Use up your old products first and replace them with plant-based alternatives when they’re finished. Less waste is always better for the planet.
-
Always read labels carefully while you’re shopping. Look for the Vegan Society logo to be sure you’re buying vegan, and familiarise yourself with the names of ingredients derived from animals. If you’re not sure, ask someone, do a quick google or leave it for next time. It does get easier!
-
Do your research. Build up a list of brands you know are vegan and only use animal-free ingredients. Join Facebook communities and subscribe to blogs and newsletters so that you can ask questions and get advice from others. You’ll be surprised at how many products are vegan when you start looking!
Choosing Nimble
Since its creation, Nimble has always strived to develop cleaning products that are effective and safe for families to use and free from chemical nasties— created by a parent for parents who want to use products that are kind to delicate skin and kind to the planet.
We use plant-based cleaning ingredients wherever possible, harnessing the power of coconut, corn, and rapeseed oil, amongst others that work just as well as their heavy-duty alternatives but are safer. Our products are 100% vegan and have never been tested on animals.
From our hero product Milk Buster, to our most recent launch Nappy Lover, we are super proud to be registered with the Vegan Society!
We’re always happy to have a chat and answer any questions you may have; please get in touch via Facebook, Instagram or leave a comment here. Let us know how you’re Veganuary journey is going!
